Many attorneys put commercials on TV to market their services and their firm's capabilities. However, can you depend on the content of these ads to make a decision about which lawyer to choose? The answer is definitely not, because these commercials do not give any useful information. All these TV commercials about attorneys advertising say the same thing. They all say that if you have been injured, you should call me, as we have been in this business for a long time. However, these ads fail to tell you why you should choose them, or why they are different from any other lawyers.

Why You should Choose that Particular Lawyer

Nobody takes the time to explain in commercials as to why they are the right attorneys for you. Suppose you are searching for an attorney for an accident or a medical malpractice case, do any of these commercials on TV tell you, explain, or give you information about your particular matter? Do they provide any information that would make you an educated consumer, so that you can make the right decision about which lawyer is right for you? All the ads yell and scream at you to call them.

What is the Problem with TV Ads?

The problem with TV advertising is that lawyers have only about 30 seconds to convey their message. This does not give them enough time to explain things to you. You are actually paying attention to the ad because you want to learn about your own particular matter. However, the ad fails to provide you with any such information or educate you about your case.

You will be interested to know information that is more relevant about your case, but instead you find somebody asking you to call them because they are the best in the industry or they have been practicing law for so long.

Is the Lawyer Educating You

If you are considering an attorney, then you need to see if they have put out any material that educates people about different legal matters. Have they created online videos or developed content on their websites that provide legal information that is useful to you. Does the lawyer provide free books, reports, or any information that can help people know about the workings of the legal process? You should be able to soak up this type of information before you step into the office of the lawyer. However, no such stuff is available through TV ads.

When you think about it, none of the attorney commercials provide any useful real information that could help you make an educated decision about which attorney is right for you. All simply badger you to pick up the phone and contact them if you are in a particular situation. Maximum they will tell you how long they have practiced law in the particular field.

However, experience is not the only thing you need to know to make an educated decision about a lawyer. When the lawyer has put out educational material, you will have some genuine idea about his knowledge and expertise. Simply asking you to call him is not going to make any difference.
