Cataracts normally occur due to aging. A cataract surgery is performed to correct this condition, where the cataract is separated from the lens capsule and replaced with an intraocular lens implant or IOL. In cases where an IOL cannot be used, spectacles, or eye glasses are worn by the patient.
Patients could slip, fall, and injure themselves during their stay in a hospital. Falls are usually caused due to hazards in the walkways, improper maintenance of hospital surroundings, and wet floors that do no warn passers-by about dangers of slipping, among others. Sometimes falls can be a result of medical negligence, which may involve a lawsuit being filed by the injured person.
A cesarean section or a C-section is performed to deliver a baby under circumstances where a vaginal delivery is not possible due to various complications. In a C-section procedure, a surgical incision is made in the mother’s abdomen and uterus to take the baby out.
Most New York parents are told about shaken baby syndrome when they begin to have children. Shaken baby syndrome occurs when a parent or caregiver essentially shakes the baby’s brain, causing an injury that could lead to death or serious injuries.
